Full steam ahead for your Wedding Ceremony by Ruth Lee

To the North of Leicester City is one of Leicestershire’s finest vintage and heritage treasures, the Great Central Railway!  Stretching from the historic Loughborough Central Station to the newly restored Leicester North Station, the railway takes you through some of North Leicestershire’s glorious countryside and the lovingly preserved stations of Quorn, Woodhouse and Rothley, all with their distinct features and history. Over the years the GCR team have helped hundreds of couples start married life in style.

With a Wedding on the GCR you can tailor make your celebration. Anything from charting their Pullman train with its bar cars, holding your celebration meal in their opulent first class compartment where you and your guests can choose from their luxury menu. They can cater for anything up to 100 guests, but if you prefer to keep things more intimate you can hire a private carriage.

If you’re anything like me and like the idea of a romantic train journey and dream of the age of steam train travel and the ‘orient express’ then the GCR wedding day might be for you.  Over the years I have visited the GCR in Leicestershire with my family and have experienced everything from their Santa Express to their First Class Dining and take it from me your time spent on the GCR will be memorable for all the right reasons. You might also recognise it from Hollywood or Netflix blockbusters including The Crown!

The GCR do have their own licence to wed couple’s meaning you do the Registrar thing all in one go, BUT if you are going to make your Wedding Day different then why not go the whole way and entrust a Celebrant to write and conduct your ceremony. After all you’ve chosen to get married on a train so why not make the day even more unusual and unlike any other wedding by making sure your ceremony is deeply personal and unique only to you!

A wedding ceremony written and conducted by Handmade Ceremonies, i.e me, Ruth, will involve time prior to your wedding for us to get to know each other (remember a Registrar will only meet you JUST before you say I Do), I will then take YOUR story and incorporate it into a ceremony that your guests will never forget, creating personalised vows, and creating fun and sentimental elements that will be meaningful and personal to you. The ceremony a registrar will read will be the standard words and order everyone gets. And whether you are a ‘steam nerd’ or a ‘vintage nerd’ I can incorporate all your ideas and creativity into the ceremony.

So remember if you do book a wedding on the GCR you don’t have to settle for the Registrar – tell the venue you are sorting your own celebrant and then arrange for a basic wedding ceremony at the local registry office (you can get a no fuss ceremony for £46 plus the usual band announcement and certificate fees) to get the legal bit out of the way. And then sit back, and let your imagination and unique creativity flow.

To find out more about creating YOUR wedding ceremony to complement your unique and personalised wedding please email me at handmadeceremonies@gmail.com and we can set up a ‘discovery’ call so you can find out more about how you can create YOUR wedding ceremony YOUR way and how I can help you make your creativity come to life!
