How Would You Describe Your Style Ruth? by Ruth Lee

In a recent Discovery call with a couple, I was asked the question, “How would you describe your style Ruth?”

And it’s a good question. It got me thinking.

When you’re choosing a wedding celebrant, you’re not just choosing someone to show up on the day — you’re choosing the tone-setter, the storyteller, the calm presence, the voice that carries your ceremony.

So here’s the honest answer.

It’s me.

And more importantly — it’s you.

My style is about listening deeply and then shaping a ceremony that feels like it couldn’t belong to anyone else. I don’t arrive with a pre-written script or a “signature routine”. I arrive with curiosity, care, and a genuine interest in who you are and how you love.

I mould my style to fit the couple in front of me.

That’s why each ceremony is unique.

I Meet You Where You Are

Some couples come to me knowing exactly what they want. Others just know what they don’t want. Many aren’t even sure where to begin.

All of that is welcome.

My role is to gently guide you, ask the right questions, and reflect your answers back to you in words that feel natural and true. The result is a ceremony that feels effortless on the surface — but is carefully, intentionally crafted beneath it.

Nothing generic. Nothing templated. Nothing borrowed.

Calm, Grounded, and Present

If you read through the testimonials on my website, there’s a theme that comes up again and again.

Couples talk about feeling held. About the room feeling calm. About moments landing just as they needed to. About the ceremony feeling meaningful without being heavy, and relaxed without losing its significance.

That matters to me deeply.

On your wedding day, emotions are high and time moves strangely. My job is to be a steady, reassuring presence — someone you trust completely to carry the ceremony while you simply be in it.

You Should Feel Like Yourselves — Not “On Show”

One of the biggest compliments I receive is when someone says, “That felt like us.”

That’s everything.

Because a ceremony isn’t about impressing guests or ticking boxes. It’s about authenticity. About being able to stand there, look at one another, and recognise yourselves in every word that’s spoken.

When couples feel comfortable, their guests feel it too. The ceremony becomes something people remember — not because it was flashy, but because it was sincere.

Handmade Ceremonies Means Exactly That

The name Handmade Ceremonies isn’t accidental.

Each ceremony is built from scratch, shaped slowly, and finished with care. I take the time to understand your story, your people, your energy, and your values — and then I translate all of that into a ceremony that feels beautifully balanced and entirely your own.

That’s my style.

Not a label. Not a look. Not a performance.

Just a human, standing with you, telling your story with integrity and heart.

If that sounds like what you’re looking for, you’re probably in the right place.
